Harakeke With Newmarket School

It was a cloudy morning were the sun was still shining. The room 15 children were waiting for 15 important guests. Three children (from room 15) were going to greet these very important guests. They came to pick up the flax and to use it for there schools learning on Matariki that was coming up.

Meleane, Shireen and Alisi came back with excitement. We all prepared for the 15 important guests form Newmarket School. Most of them were Maori (witch was awesome) but there was one person was an Islander. When it came to the time were they introduced themselves Fredrick, Khin Hla and Joshua  got to know him better.

His name was Soul, he was a shy Samoan. We became his friend. We had a connection with Newmarket school  blog so we communicated with blogging.

We sang songs. They friendly commented on our singing. I taught then the Samoan Mili Mili and we finally went down to the Harakeke garden to ask the god of plants if we could cut some flax for Newmarket school.

I was a photographer and I was taking photos of the Newmarket school and the room 15 cutting off the flax with the knifeThey thanked us for giving them flax. The saddest part of the day came were they left to go back to Newmarket school.

Me, Khin Hla, Joshua and not forgetting your Joelai took to flax to the tax-i. me and Jolai were the last one ones to get back to the class and we had an opportunity to say bye to Soul one last time.

We wave goodbye as he left out of the gate of May Road School. But then again we would always see him on the blog.
